Steve Gammon, our CCCC Conference Minister, has urged us to join him and other churches around the globe in commemorating “Amazing Grace Sunday” on February 18th. Churches are invited to sing this treasured hymn in recognition of the work of William Wilberforce, a courageous evangelical who 200 years ago helped facilitate the abolition of the slave trade in the British Empire. His mentor was John Newton, the slave trader turned songwriter, whose words influenced Wilberforce and continue to resonate today in the moving hymn “Amazing Grace”. The motion picture about the life and work of Wilberforce, also titled “Amazing Grace”, will open in theaters on February 23rd. You can learn more about the fight to end modern-day slavery at the partner campaign “Amazing Change” (

The Nominating Committee is preparing a slate of candidates to be considered for office at the Annual Meeting in February 2007. Pray for this Committee and for those being considered as well as for the church. To submit names for consideration or to make any other comments pertaining to the nominating process, see Olive, Fred or Derek in the next few weeks. Pray with us during this important time in our church.
