ANNOUNCEMENTS
Join us during the Sunday School hour as we consider the rich biblical theme of Sabbath. This several-week long series called “What a Difference a Day Makes” will examine what Sabbath meant in Old Testament Judaism and how it can and should find expression in our lives as Christians.
Tuesday, April 1st
Ladies’ Bible Study meets at 8:00 pm at Evie Mann’s home with a study called “Discovering Who Jesus Is”. If you’re looking for more study, encouragement, and prayer in your life, consider joining us as we tackle Jesus’ “I AM” statements.
Wednesday, April 2nd
Choir practice at the church at 6:00 pm.
Bible Study begins at 7:00 pm. We’ve begun an in-depth look at the Old Testament book of Daniel. It’s a great time to join us!
Sunday, April 6th
Next Sunday we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper. If you would like to participate but are unable to be here, see Derek or one of the Elders to arrange another time. Don’t be shy about taking full advantage of this important gesture of unity with Christ and his body.
Saturday, April 12th
Men’s Breakfast at the Parsonage at 8:00 am.
Friday, April 25th
Our 2008 Leadership Seminar, open to everyone, begins at 7:00 pm for an evening of worship, song and inspiration as CCCC Conference Minister Steve Gammon speaks about our connection in Christ, our connection with one another, and what that means in the 21st century. On Saturday, Dr. Gammon will facilitate the continuance of our 2008 Leadership Seminar. Don’t miss these exciting opportunities. Stay tuned for details.
Can you hear me now? Don’t forget, we have new listening devices to help make our services as meaningful as possible. Several have tried them and have been impressed with the results. Pick up one in the back or see an usher for help.
The public reading of Scripture is an important part of corporate worship (1 Timothy 4:13). To help make this time even more meaningful, it has been suggested that each person take a month’s worth of consecutive readings. If you would like to join in the experiment and serve the church by being part of this rotation, let Derek know.

Our sympathies go out to 12-year old Danielle Hill, whose South Buffalo home was destroyed by fire last week. She lost most of her personal effects, including this year’s Christmas presents and a family pet. Special contributions may be designated “DANIELLE HILL ACTS 4:34-35 PROJECT”.

BE PRAYING WITH THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE AS THEY MEET TO PREPARE A SLATE OF CANDIDATES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR OFFICE AT THE ANNUAL MEETING IN FEBRUARY 2008. TODAY IS SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY. Note the enclosed bulletin insert. Consider ways you can reach out with words of life, hope, and peace through the ministries of Tri-County Crisis Pregnancy Center.
Tuesday, January 22nd
Ladies Bible Study starts a new study in the “Discovering Who Jesus Is” series. If you’re looking for more study, encouragement and prayer in your life, consider joining us as we tackle Jesus’ “I AM” statements. We meet at Evie Mann’s home in Eden at 8:00 pm.
Wednesday, January 23rd
Choir practice at the church at 6:00 pm
Bible Study and Prayer meeting at 7:00 pm. We’re in the final paragraphs of Matthew’s gospel! It’s a great time to join us.
Sunday, February 10th
Ellington Congregational Church will celebrate its 180th anniversary. Gene VanDette, FCC Elder and Ellington Interim Pastor, invites us to be part of the festivities – a special morning service, fellowship meal, and music program in the afternoon.
Our sympathies go out to 12-year old Danielle Hill, whose South Buffalo home was destroyed by fire on Tuesday. Over the next several weeks, we will be taking up a 2nd collection for Danielle who lost most of her personal effects, including this year’s Christmas presents and a family pet. Special contributions may be designated “DANIELLE HILL ACTS 4:34-35 PROJECT”.
In an effort to serve the congregation better, the Church Board has authorized the purchase of several listening devices. The personal receivers are small and discreet and will go a long way to help people get the most out of our services. A special contribution has already been earmarked for the $800 purchase, but if you would like to be part of this important project, please designate your contributions, “LISTENING DEVICE PROJECT.”
BE PRAYING WITH THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE AS THEY MEET TO PREPARE A SLATE OF CANDIDATES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR OFFICE AT THE ANNUAL MEETING IN FEBRUARY 2008. TO SUBMIT NAMES FOR CONSIDERATION OR TO MAKE ANY OTHER COMMENTS PERTAINING TO THE NOMINATING PROCESS, SEE OLIVE, FRED OR DEREK IN THE COMING WEEKS. PRAY WITH US DURING THIS IMPORTANT TIME IN OUR CHURCH.
