3DYouth Group meets at First Church of Evans THIS AFTERNOON from 3-4:30 pm for life lessons from Mark followed by games and refreshments.  We’re meeting early so that Super Bowl fans can still get together with family and friends for the big game.

Committee and department heads:  Our Annual Meeting is just a few weeks away.  All reports must be submitted to Audrey for compilation today, if you haven’t done so already – or you get to read yours aloud at the meeting!

Save the date!  The 67th annual CCCC Family Conference is coming to Rochester, NY, July 20th – 23rd .  Since this year’s conference is so close, you may want to consider taking in some of all the sessions, workshops, and activities.  Details to follow.

A call is issued to the members and friends of the First Congregational Church of North Collins to attend our Annual Meeting Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:00 am.  Officers will be elected, annual reports given, and the new budget adopted.  The Church Board is making a recommendation to alter our Constitution and Bylaws with the number of members required at a business meeting from 15 to 10% of active membership.  Any other business by the people will also be transacted.  There are no Trustee terms expiring this year.

Next Sunday we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper.  If you would like to participate but are unable to be here, see Derek or one of the Elders to arrange another time.  Don’t be shy about taking full advantage of this important gesture of unity with Christ and his body.  We WILL share a fellowship meal together following the service.  Bring a dish to pass!

 The church’s financial statement for December 2014 is posted for review in the office over the copy machine.

Check out “Ask the Pastor” on Friday, January 23rd at 2:00 pm (TCT Network and Dish Network channel 26, DirecTV does not carry the local program).  “Ask the Pastor” is a live call-in program with a panel of five area pastors answering viewer questions about life and the Bible from the Bible.  It’s Derek’s turn to sit on the panel.  Pray for him as he tries to think fast and make the most of this unique opportunity.

We are happy to welcome John Brown back to North Collins.  John has been involved with the Seneca Gospel Mission in various ways for the last 15 years and currently serves as Executive Director.  John was recently ordained to the gospel ministry.  Let’s give him our full attention as he brings a message from God’s Word.

Announcements

During Advent 2014, our morning worship services will commemorate the season with candles, readings, banners, and special messages.  This year’s theme is “Flesh of Our Flesh”, a series of reflections on the importance of Christ’s taking on human flesh.  Pray that this will be an encouraging, challenging time in our congregation.
  
If you have photographs of special occasions from 2014 you want included in our “Collage of Memories” slideshow, get them to Garry (prints or digital formats are fine).  We’re planning to make them a part of our service on December 28th.

In an effort to reduce the cost of heating the church building, the Church Board again recommends meeting for worship in the Adult Sunday School classroom during the coldest winter months.  We are tentatively planning to hold our first worship service downstairs in the “Winter Chapel” on December 28th at our regular time of 10:45 am.  Thank you for your understanding in this important matter. ~ The Church Board
