Next Sunday we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper.  If you would like to participate but are unable to join us, see Derek or one of the Elders to arrange another time.  Don’t be shy about taking full advantage of this important gesture of unity with Christ and his body. A fellowship meal is
NOT planned.

Mission giving is down for the summer, and this is the last Sunday in the 3rd quarter.  Remember, unless your special contribution is designated “MISSIONS” (on the check memo), it doesn’t make it to the field but gets included in general fund giving.

Calendar
Wednesday, September 30th
Choir practice at 6:00 pm.

Join us for Bible study and prayer at the church at 7:00 pm.  In our survey of the great themes of Genesis, we’re looking at the story of Hagar, Sarai’s Egyptian maid, in Chapter 16.  It’s a fascinating study of promise, patience, and the providence of God.  It’s a great time to join us.

Saturday, October 17th
Join our WNY/Northwestern PA churches at Fluvanna Community Church for this year’s annual CCCC Regional Fall Banquet.  The program is called “Living Out the Legacy” and will focus on the frontier ministry of John Spencer.  There will NO children’s program this year.  There will be no charge for the meal, but a special offering will be taken up to help cover the evening’s expenses.  The evening begins at 6:00 pm.  Reservation deadline is Sunday, October 11th.  See the sign-up sheet in the foyer for details.

Sunday, October 25th
Save the date!  It’s Singspiration time again – and our turn to host!  All the usual details to follow.

New!  Great For Car Travel!  We have a new set of listening CD's and a couple of books in the library from "Grace To You" with John MacArthur. Please feel free to sign them out, and grow spiritually in your own listening/reading time.  Titles include:
The Relationship Danger Zone

Making Sense of Job
Notes on Job 24:1-25 : “The burden of this section is found in its opening and closing words:  “Why are times not laid up by the Almighty?  And why do those who know him not see his days?”  God does not, like Samuel, have a regular circuit for preserving order and punishing crime.  Cruel and greedy men prey unchecked upon the helpless.  Job voices the plaintive, “How long?” for all those who are oppressed.  But God, in his inscrutable wisdom, allows the lives of the wicked to attain full maturity and to end as other men’s lives end.  Sure of his facts, Job issues his victory challenge.”

M.G. Kline, TNBC 478f.
