Following this morning’s service, we hope you can linger and join us in the foyer for refreshments.

Announcements

During Advent, our morning worship services will commemorate the season with candles, readings, banners, and special messages.  This year’s theme is “The Gospel Preached Beforetimes”.  We’ll consider how the OT stories of Joshua, Moses, David, and Abraham can prepare God’s people for Christmas.

In an effort to reduce the cost of heating the church building, the Church Board again recommends meeting for worship in the Adult Sunday School classroom during the coldest winter months.  We are tentatively planning to hold our first worship service downstairs in the “Winter Chapel” on December 29th at our regular time of 10:45 am.  Thank you for your understanding in this important matter.  – The Church Board

Photographs of special occasions from 2013 are being collected for our “Collage of Memories” slideshow.  Get them to Garry (prints or digital formats are fine).  We’re planning to make them a part of our service on December 29th.

Check out “Ask the Pastor” on Friday, December 20th at 2:00 pm (TCT Network and Dish Network channel 26, DirecTV does not carry the program), as Derek tries to make good use of this special opportunity.  “Ask the Pastor” is a live call-in program with a panel of five area pastors answering viewer questions about life and the Bible from the Bible.

The church’s financial statement for November 2013 is posted for review
in the office over the copy machine.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Congratulations go out to Sara (Clapper) and Joel Mason on the safe arrival of Noah Thomas, their third child.  He was born on Wednesday afternoon.  Both Sara and the baby are doing well.  (FYI – he weighed 9 lbs. and measured 23 inches.)

Onward in October 2013 … and in coming months!  Our Sunday School teachers invite you to come to Sunday School every week at 9:30.  October is a great time to remember good study habits:  be on time for class, bring your Bible and offering to class, and bring a friend to class as we learn together.  Let’s make a renewed effort to learn and apply our Bibles at Sunday School, with Pre-School through Adult classes available!

ISI Fredonia has an immediate need for host families for 4 new students who want to see life in an American home.  Contact Harriett Rupp for details of this opportunity for service.

Next Sunday we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper.  If you would like to participate but are unable to be here, see Derek or one of the Elders to arrange another time.  Don’t be shy about taking full advantage of this important gesture of unity with Christ and his body.  A fellowship meal following the service is NOT planned for next week, due to our Singspiration! plans later in the evening.
