Get the most out of the service by asking about our special listening devises. Pick up one in the back or see an usher for help.  If yours isn’t working property, don’t be bashful about raising your hand to ask for assistance.

Following this morning’s service, we hope you can linger and join us in the foyer for refreshments.

Announcements

During Advent, our morning worship services will commemorate the season with candles, readings, banners, and special messages.  This year’s theme is “The Gospel Preached Beforetimes”.  We’ll consider how the OT stories of Joshua, Moses, David, and Abraham can prepare God’s people for Christmas.

In an effort to reduce the cost of heating the church building, the Church Board again recommends meeting for worship in the Adult Sunday School classroom during the coldest winter months.  We are tentatively planning to hold our first worship service downstairs in the “Winter Chapel” on December 29th at our regular time of 10:45 am.  Thank you for your understanding in this important matter.  – The Church Board

Photographs of special occasions from 2013 are being collected for our “Collage of Memories” slideshow.  Get them to Garry (prints or digital formats are fine).  We’re planning to make them a part of our service on December 29th.

Check out “Ask the Pastor” on Friday, December 20th at 2:00 pm (TCT Network and Dish Network channel 26, DirecTV does not carry the program), as Derek tries to make good use of this special opportunity.  “Ask the Pastor” is a live call-in program with a panel of five area pastors answering viewer questions about life and the Bible from the Bible.

The church’s financial statement for November 2013 is posted for review
in the office over the copy machine.

3DYouth Group meets IN LESS THAN THREE HOURS (1:30 pm) at the First Church of Evans to help serve Operation Good Neighbor volunteers at their annual Christmas banquet.  Come wearing white shirts, dark pants, and sensible shoes.  After we serve, we meet for life lessons from Mark and pizza.

Be praying with the Nominating Committee as it works to prepare a slate of candidates to be considered for office at the Annual Meeting in February 2014.  To submit names for consideration or to make any other comments regarding the nominating process, see Olive, Fred, or Derek in the coming weeks.  Pray with us during this important time in our church.

Our Sunday School sponsors a child,  Ndulu Mulinge, in Kenya through World Vision.  We would like to send her a special Christmas gift.  We would be happy to accept donations from the congregation.  Simply label your donation as “Gift to World Vision Child”.  Thank you for your help providing for children around the world.

If you would like to be on the 2014 rotation of
Sunday morning scripture readers, see Derek.
