Get the most out of the service by asking about our special
listening devices. Pick up one in the back or see an usher for help. If yours
isn’t working properly, don’t be bashful about raising your hand to ask for
assistance.
Announcements
Next Sunday we will
celebrate the Lord’s Supper. If you
would like to participate but are unable to be here, see Derek or one of the
Elders to arrange another time. Don’t be
shy about taking full advantage of this important gesture of unity with Christ
and his body. After the service, we are
planning to gather for a fellowship meal downstairs. See the sign-up in the foyer.
This is the last Sunday to order a book for our next
“Coffee with Calvin”
reading group. See Derek for your copy
of Tim Keller’s The Reason for God.
Calendar
Wednesday, September 5th
Choir practice at the
church at 6:00 pm.
Join us at the church
for Bible study and prayer at 7:00 pm.
This week we’ll be evaluating the next hymn in our series on church
music (“And Can It Be?”). Extra copies
are on the back table along with T. David Gordon’s “Hymns: Criteria for Making
Good Ones”.

Welcome
Back Sunday! Meet in the sanctuary at
9:30 am for our Sunday School kickoff followed by our fall Concert of Prayer
(adults and teens). Family worship
begins at 10:45 am.
Thursday,
September 13th
Our next
Sit’nSew day! This is a time for Dewey
outreach to our home missions through making donation lap quilts and bed
quilts. We hope to make the second
Thursday of every month our sewing day.
If there is enough interest, we could expand to twice a month to
complete projects more quickly. Clean,
laundered fabric scraps are always welcome.
Thursday,
September 20th
Dewey
Missionary meeting. We generally meet on
the third Thursday of every month to hear our missionaries’ letters from around
the world and to pray for their needs.
Come join us to support and be made aware of the work of our fellow
Christians in India, Brazil, Haiti, North Africa, the Philippines, the Netherlands,
Europe and China!
Sunday,
September 23rd
Franklin
Graham’s “Rock the Lake” crusade is coming to Buffalo! Bus leaves First Church of Evans between 2:30
– 3:00 pm. If you’re interested in
attending, get your name and $5 for a seat on the bus to Derek before the 23rd. All are welcome.
