Announcements

Be mindful that the few minutes before the service are set aside to help prepare for worship.  Some use this time to pray or meditate on the call to worship or just be quiet before the Lord.  Let’s keep our visiting before the service to a minimum – or better, let’s wait until after the service.

Be praying with the Nominating Committee as it works to prepare a slate of candidates to be considered for office at the Annual Meeting in February 2017.  To submit names, see Olive, Fred or Derek.

Next week marks the beginning of Advent 2016!  Our morning worship services will commemorate the season with candles, readings, banners, and special messages.  This year’s theme is ‘What Child Is This?’  We’ll explore some familiar details of the Nativity stories – the magi’s gold and spices, the swaddling cloths, Caesar’s watchful eye, and the witnessing shepherds – and how they help prepare us for Christ’s death and resurrection.  Pray that this will be an encouraging, challenging time in our congregation.

The church’s financial statement for October 2016 is posted for review in the office over the copy machine.

Calendar

Wednesday, November 23rd
Wednesday services are suspended because of the Thanksgiving holiday.  But join us the following week (Nov. 30th) for Bible study and prayer meeting at the church at 7:00 pm as we continue our survey of the great themes of Genesis.  We’ll be in Chapter 34 – “The Treachery of Jacob’s Sons”.  A rough story, to be sure, but it’s still a great time to join us!

Friday, December 2nd
Practice for the Christmas Sunday School program from 6-7 pm.

Saturday, December 3rd
To all the ladies – plan on celebrating the start of the Christmas season at the annual Christmas Dewey Ladies Luncheon beginning at noon.  Invite a family member or friend and enjoy the fellowship with one another around the table.

Upcoming December Dates:
Christmas Guitar Concert – Friday, December 9
Parsonage Christmas Tea – Sunday, December 11
Sunday School Christmas Program – Sunday, December 18
Christmas Eve Service – Saturday, December 24
Christmas Morning Worship – Sunday, December 25
